Valencia CF Mestalla played their third pre-season friendly against regional opposition Villarreal B in a tough meeting between two third tier sides who happen to share the same subgroup in group III of Segunda División B. Villarreal ran away 0-2 victors.
The game started at a high intensity with both sides looking to dominate possesion. The opposition crashed an effort against the crossbar and were denied by Charly in a one on one situation in the early goings.
Proceedings evened out on the quarter-hour mark with the first dangerous chance. Carlos González hit the post following a great Pedro Alemañ assist and five minutes later, aforementioned Carlos González had another great chance but it blazed over the crossbar.
Villarreal B capitalised on a temporary numerical advantage to break the deadlock on the half-hour mark while Pedro Alemañ was receiving treatment on the touchline. Álex Millán made it 0-1 to Villarreal B.
Valencia CF Mestalla trailed regional opponents Villarreal B by 0-1 at half-time.
The same script followed in the second half despite multiple changes and just seven minutes in Pacheco made it 0-2 to Villarreal B. VCF Mestalla refused to back down and tried to cut the two goal deficit to no avail as the match ended in a 0-2 defeat to Villarreal B.
Next week Valencia CF Mestalla will have a re-match away at Villareal CF B at Villarreal CF training ground.
